ThinkChicago Lollapalooza: A summer opportunity from the Chicago Mayor’s Office

Greetings Justin,

My name is Jill Francke and I work in the Chicago Mayor’s Office. I’m writing because the City has recently announced a program that will take place during Lollapalooza weekend (Aug 1-4) that we hope will be a great opportunity for your students.

From August 1st-4th, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago Ideas Week, World Business Chicago, Built in Chicago, and Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center will invite 100 university students from across the country to take a tour of Chicago’s fast growing tech scene and also attend the 3-day Lollapalooza music festival. Each admitted student to will receive a ticket to Lollapalooza as well as the opportunity to attend company career fairs, interview with local companies, and participate in panels featuring Mayor Emanuel, business leaders, and Chicago-based technologists.

We put out a release (attached) and have launched our application website, thinkchicago.cityofchicago.org. Students can head to this website to apply. In addition, I have attached the final version of our flyer, which has all the program information in it.

We are seeking candidates who are enthusiastic about digital technology, computer science, innovation, or entrepreneurship and have demonstrated a commitment to excellence as evidenced by academic honors, leadership ability, extracurricular activities, and/or professional achievement. It is preferred that applicants be in their junior or senior years of their undergraduate studies.

As the ASUC Executive Vice President we hope you can help us spread the word about this opportunity. Would you be able to pass on this information to the students you work with? Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can provide you with any additional information.

Best,

Jill
