Reclaiming Our Voices at Cal: Womyn of Color Speak Out!

Reclaiming Our Voices at Cal: Womyn of Color Speak Out!

Wednesday, November 7th
5:00-8:00pm
Multicultural Community Center
(Hearst Field Annex D-37)

In 2007, the first Women of Color Festival “RECLAIM: Our Bodies,
Minds, and Spirits,” consisted of a day of events, hosted by GenEq,
Multicultural Student Development and the Office of the Dean of
Students, focusing on the experiences of women of color in our
communities. It returned in 2009 and was cosponsored by GabNET,
CalSLAM, RISE of UC Berkeley, Phi Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, GenEq,
bridges Multicultural Resource Center and Cross-Cultural Student
Development (CCSD). This semester we hope to bring back the spirit
created by the Women of Color Festival in 2007 and 2009, but doing so
with a critical lens, that analyzes the historical connotations of the word
“festival.”
This year, we are excited to invite you to an evening event that will
consist of dialogue among womyn of color about their experiences
on the Cal campus as well as smaller chat circles focusing on the
topics and practices of: journalizing, visual art, oral narratives, poetry/
spoken word and movement.

This event is open to allies!
