Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community at Cal (CAC-LGBT)

Please circulate this message to listserves of UC Berkeley
LGBT staff, faculty, and undergraduate and graduate students,
and Allies.
Please pardon duplications.

The Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community at Cal (CAC-LGBT) invites membership nominations and self-nominations from faculty, staff, and students who are committed to LGBT equality.

Since reconstituting in 2007, the CAC-LGBT has accomplished much to increase the visibility of the contributions and concerns of LGBT staff, faculty, and students among Berkeley’s initiatives for diversity, equity, and inclusion. A full agenda awaits us in 2012-13.

Some of our recent projects have included:
Advising Chancellor Birgeneau on issuing these statements: http://www.berkeley.edu/news/berkeleyan/2008/05/08_diversitystatement.shtml and http://berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2008/10/22_propeight.shtml .
Addressing the academic climate and resources for LGBT students and scholars.
Addressing the needs of transgender persons on campus.
Advising the campus and UCOP on parental leave and adoption benefits.
A summary of activities and briefing statements, as well as our mission statement and current membership roster, can be found at: http://lavendercal.berkeley.edu/resources_cac.html .

For more information about CAC-LGBT membership composition, responsibilities and qualifications, and for an application, please see the attached. We invite expressions of interest in serving for 2012-13 or 2013-14. (Please note that, due to limitations of committee size, not all nominations may result in being invited to serve during a given year.)

Please email applications, questions, comments to: .
Thank you for your interest!
