As you may know, CSL has joined with the ASUC Office of Student Affairs and the Graduate Assembly Business Office to form the new LEAD Center. We are now located in 102 Hearst Gym. Here are a few reminders about tabling on Sproul:
Tabling on Sproul Plaza â?” While tables and chairs are reservable through Event Services at the Student Union, your designated spot is not. Spots are on a first-come, first-served basis. Tabling must occur within the tree lines and not in the fire lanes. The concrete circle at the end of North Tree Line (near Sather Gate) is a fire lane as well as the red brick area by the fountain/in front of Sproul Hall. Please table behind (towards Bancroft) the last tree of the North Tree Line (Sather Gate side). Generally, if you are under a tree on Sproul, you are out of the fire lanes. This will allow for emergency vehicle access and turnaround as well as pedestrian walkways. Some of you created a second row today in the plaza. That was great!
Amplified Sound â?” Radios and music playing may be considered amplified sound. Please remember to keep the volume at a level that is for your own enjoyment (i.e. low) unless it is between 12p-1p, 5p-7p, or you have a sound amplificationexception through Event Services at the Student Union.
Signage â?” During this first week, there have been a lot of groups tabling! Please be mindful with your displays, canopies/tents, A-frames, & Greek Letter cardboard/wooden signs. All items must allow for a fire lane through the tree line, the red bricks, and the concrete circle at the end of the North Tree Line. Additionally, all items must also allow for other groups to have tabling space. All items must be located near your table. Please keep displays/a-frames no further than 1 foot from the front of your table. Many of the groups have used pop up tents/canopies. Please use these sparingly and when you do, please share with another group as they cover enough space for two groups to table. We ask because they take up a lot of space and reduce the space for other student groups to table.
Displays â?”Displays require a special permission request. Please do this through the LEAD Center. You can access the form at http://campuslife.berkeley.edu/sites/campuslife.berkeley.edu/files/Display.Request.Form_.pdf. A display request is needed if your display will be more than 3 feet from your table or be more than 10 feet high or 3 feet wide.
Non-UC Berkeley Groups â?” Commercial activity (non-profit or profit based) is not allowed on campus. For more information, please see the Berkeley Campus Regulations at http://students.berkeley.edu/uga/regs.stm and do a search for the word â?ocommercial.â? If you have questions about this, please talk with the LEAD Center.
Reservable Space â?”If you wish to have an event, you can reserve the South Tree Line, the Sather Gate Crescent (the side near Sproul Hall), or additional outdoor spaces. All outdoor reservable space is now through Event Services at the Student Union and there are diagrams on their website for the various spaces. – A Google form will be activated by 10am on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. You can access the form at https://docs.google.com/a/berkeley.edu/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dE9NLW5ZLS11MFpaYno5MzA3SU1Ya3c6MQ#gid=0
– We will stop accepting responses once we check the form and notice the spots have filled.
– Notification of your spot will happen by 12pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. If you were able to submit after the spots were filled, we will inform you of that as well.
– You must bring your signboards into the LEAD Center in 102 Hearst Gym from 9am-11am on Thursday, September 13, 2012 for approval. We will then put the approval sticker on them so that you can hang them up.
– Any groups with allocated spots who have not brought their signboard by the LEAD Center by Monday, September 17, 2012 will be given to the next waiting group.
