So, please be on-time!

As a reminder, here are the parameters of the event:
1. Fundraising is allowed, but food/drink sales are prohibited. If you are fundraising, please make sure you have completed a fundraising request at https://docs.google.com/a/berkeley.edu/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFl1R2RMSWN5aWtaN1ZoczI3MEJFUHc6MQ#gid=0
2. Remember you may be sharing your table (most tables have 2 organizations). Please be respectful at all times.
3. Student organizations are strongly encouraged to bring their own signage. As a reminder you are sharing a 6-foot table with another student organization. Be mindful of the dimensions of your sign and the shared space.
4. All displays larger than 3′ x 6′ tall will not be allowed due to limited space.
5. Displays may not be placed on or against any structure or natural feature of the campus, including but not limited the sides of doors, buildings, fountains, posts, waste receptacle, trees, or stakes. (No hanging your banner from the trees!) Additionally, displays may not block the flow of pedestrian traffic.
If you have questions, please contact the LEAD Center at (510) 642-5171 or lead@berkeley.edu.

Dear UC Berkeley students,

As we move into the final stretch of the semester, we encourage you to take this opportunity to reflect on your personal well-being and what you may be experiencing as you try to complete papers and projects and prepare for exams. Each of you came to Cal with many strengths, including your ability to connect to others and resources, your problem solving skills, and your motivation to succeed. With the rigorous academic workload and difficulties taking care of multiple and competing demands, it can be challenging and overwhelming to be a UC Berkeley student. These academic pressures are often compounded by financial pressures and family concerns, especially for students who are the first in their family to pursue a higher degree of education. For graduate students, qualifying exams, dissertation deadlines, and the balancing act of being a GSI can also present unique stressors.

Be Proactive about Managing Stress: Please take the time to reflect on your well-being and the well-being of those around you. Although academic performance is often the focus, it is important to pay attention to your stress level and to prioritize your stress management. Talking to friends, exercising, and taking breaks can be helpful. For a free, anonymous mental health screening, please visit http://uhs.berkeley.edu/onlinescreenings/.

For more information about stress and how to manage it, I encourage you to explore the Be Well to Do Well website: http://uhs.berkeley.edu/bewell/.

Seek Help: Getting help is a sign of strength and resiliency. If stress is interfering with your life (socially or academically) or if you find yourself depressed or anxious for weeks or months at a time, we strongly encourage you to talk to a professional mental health counselor. It can make a positive difference to talk to someone who is objective and trained in working with stress issues. Campus counselors at University Health Services at the Tang Center are available by appointment and on a drop-in basis for urgent concern, and at a variety of satellite locations for students who may feel more comfortable being seen outside of the Tang Center. For more information about Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS), visit http://uhs.berkeley.edu/students/counseling/ or call Counseling and Psychological Services at (510)642-9494–After Hours contact: (510) 643-7197 to seek help.

We wish all of you the best during this home stretch of the semester and hope you will take advantage of the resources available to you to complete the semester successfully and healthfully.

Executive Director, University Health Services

Each admitted student to will receive a ticket to Lollapalooza as well as the opportunity to attend company career fairs, interview with local companies, and participate in panels featuring Mayor Emanuel, business leaders, and Chicago-based technologists.

It is preferred that applicants be in their junior or senior years of their undergraduate studies.

As the ASUC Executive Vice President we hope you can help us spread the word about this opportunity. Would you be able to pass on this information to the students you work with? Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can provide you with any additional information.

Dear ASUC Agents -

We at LEAD Center hope the last official weeks of the Spring 2013 semester treat you well. Please know that the LEAD Center remains open year round and reimbursements are still available during summer.

Our preferred deadline to submit transactions for ASUC student group accounts, either ASUC Programs or Miscellaneous, is Monday, MAY 27, 2013 so all 12/13 transactions may be finalized by June 30, 2013. [Check in with your LEAD Center coordinator for summer account activity circumstances]

WARNING: Many, many transactions are being submitted these last weeks and our office is doing its best to process your requests as quickly as possible but please expect that transactions MAY take two weeks instead of one. If there are any specific deadlines for a particular transaction please bring it to your LEAD Center Coordinator’s attention by handwriting a note on the Callink coversheet and handing to our LEAD Center front desk staff instead of dropping in the basket. We will continue to do our best to adhere to our goal turnaround time but the volume and complexity at the end of the academic year is great.

On that note, as the semester is wrapping up PLEASE doublecheck with your members about whether they might prefer to have reimbursements mailed to their “summer” or “permament” addresses as finals take priority over remembering to pick up a reimbursement from the LEAD Center. We are happy to mail reimbursements if the address is reliable…but that is definitely not the case for most Berkeley apartments/dorms/coops/fraternities…therefore it is still preferable to hold transactions for pickup if a student will be around to pick up in person…just doublecheck with them before creating the CalLink form.

ALSO: PLEASE TAKE AN EXTRA MOMENT TO REVIEW DOCUMENTATION before you drop off transactions to make sure you have…

1. Original itemized receipts that indicate PROOF OF PAYMENT. If there is any ambiguity about whether the person getting reimbursed consummated payment for the purchase then be pro-active about getting a bank stmt, credit card stmt or a better receipt from them before submitting the request. Also, provide their phone number on the CalLink request so we can follow up with them if necessary.

2. Pleeeeeeeaase provide your phone number and email address in the fields provided so we may readily follow up with any questions.

3. If spending is debiting ASUC Funding for photocopies/printing please provide a sample of what was printed either by attaching a sample to the request or by uploading a sample to your group’s Callink Documents/Publicity Samples folder. Note somewhere on the request for LEAD Center to look for that if it is uploaded.

4. DOUBLECHECK that the payee will be responsible for picking up their reimbursement from LEAD Center or give them the option to have it mailed to a summer address … and then choose the appropriate option on the CalLink transaction.

5. REMIND your members to pick up their money from LEAD Center. We have a LOT of waiting checks and petty cash reimbursements. We are open Monday through Friday 9am-6pm. If a student is leaving campus and can’t pick up their transaction, they can email lead@berkeley.edu with instructions for mailing but they must reference the Callink Request # and confirm the mailing address in the email.

Happy Friday, thank you for all your hard work and diligence, and Go Bears!
